Basin Electric is committed to reliability as demonstrated by the cooperative’s capital expenditure program. There are several major projects building or strengthening generation and transmission infrastructure underway.
Basin Electric sells its coal byproducts to reduce landfill space and cost of disposal, and increase sales revenue and recycled material use. In 2023, coal byproducts had a total benefit to Basin Electric of $4.5 million.
Basin Electric's team is investing focus into three goals: safety, reliability, and affordability. The goals provide value to our members and develop a unified sense of purpose.
Dakota Gas continues to invest in the safety and reliability of the plant by making improvements to the plant’s CO2 compression area’s air-cooled heat exchangers. These improvements will occur during planned outage time frames each year.
