National rodeo event in Wyoming sponsored by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives

This week, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives are sponsoring the 62nd National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, WY.

Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Powder River Energy Corporation and Tri-State G&T Association recognized at the rodeo on July 20.

Basin Electric teamed up with member cooperatives Powder River Energy Corporation (PRECorp), located in northeast Wyoming, and Tri-State G&T Association, Denver, CO, to sponsor the morning and evening events on July 20.

This is the eighth time the NHSFR has been hosted in Gillette. Kristin Kelly, communications specialist at PRECorp, says by sponsoring this event, it brings together Basin Electric, Tri-State and PRECorp employees and members to support the National Rodeo High School youth.

“A lot of work and thought goes into these events. When events like this happen, it’s such a huge impact. Members are visiting with each other and it’s so fun to see the rodeo bring people of all ages together,” Kelly says.

The rodeo ropes in more than 1,500 high school champions to compete in 13 events from July 18-24. Events include steer wrestling, barrel racing, pole bending and classic bull riding. More than 6,000 visitors from 41 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia attend the national competition.
