Basin Electric donates to thank volunteer first responders in South Dakota

Basin Electric and electric cooperatives across South Dakota recognize the important role volunteer first responders play in rural communities. The cooperative gave first responders in the Groton area a $15,554.86 donation at the end of January. The money covers the entire cost of a new Stryker Power-Pro cot for Groton Area Fire Protection and Rescue District’s ambulance. The Groton Area Fire Protection and Rescue District requested the money so they can continue to provide quality service to patients across their 280-square mile coverage area.

“Basin Electric and its member co-ops, like Northern Electric, rely on the communities and the communities rely on us, so that’s one of the reasons we’ve made this donation,” Andy Buntrock, Basin Electric director of strategic planning and communications, said during the check presentation Jan. 27 at the Groton Fire Hall.
