Change in Administration makes for a busy year for Basin Electric government relations

Government-Action

“The change in Administration meant a busy year for our government relations staff,” said Dale Niezwaag, Basin Electric vice president of government relations during his report at Basin Electric’s 2017 Annual Meeting. “It’s been great to be able to provide input on the changes occurring at the federal level.”

Niezwaag updated the more than 1,000 attendees of the meeting about what he and his staff have been up to the past year, including the repeal of the Clean Power Plan; work on New Source Review, an Environmental Protection Agency program that requires existing power plants that make major modifications to follow the environmental regulations required of a completely new plant; and the Department of Interior’s proposed grid resiliency and pricing rule, which would compensate baseload power generation facilities for providing grid stability.

Read more about these issues and more facing the government relations staff and Basin Electric’s membership on Basin Electric’s Annual Meeting page.

Video will also soon be available of this and the rest of the meeting’s presentations on our Annual Meeting video page.
