Basin Electric employees share cookies, cocoa and Christmas cheer with area youth

Santa Claus got his own cookie and cocoa, too.

Basin Electric served up a hearty dose of Christmas cheer Dec. 9 to a group of more than 60 kids – and a special visit was made by the big guy himself.

This event was held to spread joy to the children who participate in the Salvation Army and Welcome House’s programs. In addition to Christmas cookies, the kids received hot cocoa in a mug they got to keep, free photos with Santa, and gifts provided by the employees of Basin Electric (but distributed by Santa’s elves).

As an added bonus, volunteers and staff of the Salvation Army and Welcome House, an agency serving homeless individuals and families in the Bismarck/Mandan area, provided dinner for the kids and their families – more than 100 people in all.

“These are the kids whose names we all saw on Basin Electric’s sharing tree, so it was fun to be able to interact with them and see them having a good time at this event,” says Jennifer Holen, supervisor of community and employee engagement. “It was a great event for all involved.”
