The co-op is holding its third annual meeting for members tonight, Sept. 22, at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch.
Did you know Basin Electric and the food co-op have a relationship going back several years? It’s all in the spirit of the 6th cooperative principle: Cooperation Among Cooperatives.
In the years leading up to the food co-op opening its doors, Basin Electric supported the co-op’s development in a few ways:
- Basin Electric paid $50 of the $200 membership for up to 100 employees who joined. So far, more than 75 employees have taken the step to be member-owners of the food co-op, so the offer still stands. A membership application can be found on the food co-op’s website or at the store. Submit the application either in person or by mail.
- Basin Electric did a $50,000 check presentation on July 21, 2015, toward the food co-op’s capital campaign raising funds to start construction work at the food co-op’s store.
- Basin Electric held Co-op Coffee at the Garden, at Basin’s Backyard Garden, as a way for employees to learn more about the co-op, get coffees and goodies, and get an up-close look at the garden if they hadn’t yet by then.
- Basin Electric invited representatives from the food co-op to offer information to employees during Safety & Wellness Fairs.
