Antelope Valley Station raises $6,600 before a single brave head is shaved

This afternoon, the Mercer County Head-Shaving Event brought together Basin Electric employees from Leland Olds Station, the Great Plains Synfuels Plant, and Antelope Valley Station to shave their heads for Brave the Shave, raising money to support kids with cancer in the process.

Casey Stern, mechanical supervisor, was the highest bidder on a hand-turned elm box made by Kirk Maize, an Antelope Valley Station retiree.

Antelope Valley Station employees and contractors shared a meal, raising about $1,400, and held an auction, raising about $5,200, before the head-shaving event. The auction boasted 94 items, mostly donated by local businesses, vendors, contractors and employees. One of the items was a hand-turned elm box made by Kirk Maize, an Antelope Valley Station retiree.
