The Iowa Rural Power advocates are known for three things: green shirts, a friendly demeanor, and one simple question, “What is your plan for safe, affordable and reliable electricity?”

Leading up to today’s Iowa caucus, advocates are doing what they do best – representing rural electric cooperatives to make sure all presidential candidates understand the critical role of electric cooperatives.

The grassroots effort is headed up by Tim Coonan, Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC) government relations director; Jenica Lensmeyer, IAEC advocacy coordinator; Shelly York, IAEC executive assistant and Youth Tour coordinator; and Julie Fleming, IEAC contractor.

While Iowa Rural Power doesn’t endorse a particular candidate, the group has materials available at http://www.iaruralpower.org to help voters make up their mind when it comes time to vote.
