The Touchstone Energy Cooperatives operating in Bismarck and Mandan joined forces with CoBank, a national cooperative bank, to donate $65,000 to the BisMan Community Foundation, an endowment fund established in 2011 through the North Dakota Community Foundation.

The $65,000 donation will be matched dollar for dollar by the Otto Bremer Foundation for a total contribution of $130,000.

The goal of the endowment fund is to provide a reliable source of charitable income each year to meet changing needs of the community.

Mike Eggl, Basin Electric senior vice president of Communications & Administration, says electric cooperatives are dedicated to improving the lives of our members and communities.

“It’s about the people in our community and what they need, whether that’s helping them fix a house, serve meals to the homeless, provide scholarships, or in this case, provide monetary support to The Bismarck Mandan Community Foundation,” Eggl says. “By donating money to this foundation, we’re assured that we’re not only helping the community now, but well into the future, thanks to its permanent endowment fund. All of us co-ops coming together today in support of the Bismarck Mandan Community Foundation is a wonderful demonstration of how co-ops work together to enhance the quality of life of the areas we serve.”
