Photographer catches Northern Lights in area wind energy center

This photo was taken by a photographer who came to North Dakota to chase tonight’s predicted bad weather.

Mike Theiss is a photographer affiliated with National Geographic. Extreme Nature Photography by Mike Theiss “specializes in documenting Planet Earth’s most extreme natural events.”

He caught Northern Lights in the Wilton Wind Energy Center north of Bismarck, ND. Basin Electric purchases the power from these turbines.

Here is what his Facebook post said:

Wow !! I arrived to North Dakota to chase the upcoming storm set up and with in 15 minutes of landing a giant neon green meteor streaked across the sky. Then 3 hours later a surprise Northern Lights show keep me up most of the night. I have many shots from tonight but I need sleep, here is a quick shot from a windmill farm. Stay tuned for the entire set of photos from tonight’s Northern Lights show !
