Aircrane helicopter used in Basin Electric transmission line construction

Aircrane

An Aircrane helicopter flies a transmission line structure into place.

Big machines are required to lift big things.

An S-64 Aircrane helicopter with a lift capacity of 25,000 pounds, provided by Erickson Inc., Portland, OR, was brought in to set two H-frame transmission structures in some rough terrain in March in western North Dakota. Watch this video to hear about the project and see the helicopter in action.

The 200-mile-long transmission line is part of the Antelope Valley Station to Neset Transmission Project, which will help bring much needed power and stability to eastern Montana and western North Dakota.
