Steve Tomac, Basin Electric senior legislative representative, stopped by the KFGO radio studios in Fargo, ND, on Feb. 18 to visit with News and Views host Joel Heitkamp. The topic of discussion: a Feb. 14 editorial written by the Fargo Forum on Basin Electric’s proposed 345-kilovolt transmission line being planned for western North Dakota. The editorial calls into question the cooperative’s diligence in siting the project, which would go through a portion of a proposed study area for the Killdeer Mountain battlefield.

Tomac addressed questions from Heitkamp and callers, underscoring the cooperative’s active engagement in a public process, including associated public meetings and comment periods. He focused on Basin Electric’s communication with landowners along the proposed route. “We’ve met with more than 500 landowners throughout this process, resulting in more than 10,000 landowner contacts,” he said.

Listen to Tomac and Heitkamp discuss the issue and field calls during the morning talk show.
