Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of many local groups seeking matching donations from partnering organizations during the 24-hour donations event.
North Dakota’s event is hosted by Dakota Medical Foundation and Impact Foundation. The Fargo-based groups exist to build the capacity of nonprofits, businesses and individuals to maximize their community impact.
Basin Electric pledged $10,000 through Big Brothers Big Sisters this year, part of a five-year grant with the local charitable group.
Like many other dedicated people on this wonderful day of giving, Faye Miller, who has served as executive director of the local Big Brothers Big Sisters group for 17 years, is working with volunteers at the Ramada Hotel and Kirkwood Mall all day through information booths.
“I actually believe that we wouldn’t still be around if it wouldn’t have been for Basin Electric,” she says. “The cooperative’s contribution on this day shows their commitment to the community and the future of the kids that we serve.”
How to give

A look back
In 2012, Miller shared with Basin Electric why she feels the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is so valuable.
