The Bismarck Tribune ran a positive editorial Feb. 9 on Dakota Gasificiation Company‘s new urea plant at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant.

When it comes to value-added products, Dakota Gasification Co. has the right mindset at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah. …

The plant will represent a huge investment in North Dakota. It will mean locally produced, high-quality fertilizer for North Dakota farmers as well as exports. …

The new plant will add urea and diesel emission fluid, used to reduce emissions when operating diesel engines.

These co-products have been developed at the same time the company has invested $477 million in improvements related to environmental compliance, expanded production and increased efficiency.

A sidenote:
Basin Electric’s Deer Creek Station in Brookings County, SD, gets its fuel to generate electricity from natural gas produced at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant.

This morning, David Montgomery of the Argus Leader tweeted from a report that said Deer Creek has created more than 900 jobs, directly and indirectly.
