Missouri Slope Areawide United Way Executive Director Jena Gullo’s passion and enthusiasm are contagious – and those qualities shone through as she helped kick off Basin Electric’s 2013 United Way campaign today at Basin Electric Headquarters.
Gullo thanked employees for their support of United Way year in and year out.
“I can’t tell you enough how appreciative, how grateful, how sincerely heart-warmed our community is because of how you stepped up last year,” Gullo says. “You’re the reason we got to our goal. And you’re the reason we’re helping so many more people in our community. It’s unbelievable. So thank you – thank you very much. I really appreciate that.” Watch the video.
In 2012, Basin Electric employees raised more than $250,000 for the United Way, and earned the titles of Top Overall Contributor to the 2012 campaign, Best in Show for Corporate and Employee Gifts, and Spirit of Bismarck-Mandan Award.
Why support United Way?
“It’s because the chapter touches so many of the communities that we serve here,” says Ellen Holt, Basin Electric vice president of Human Resources. “Because of the broad reach of the United Way, many of you already give to some of these charities locally – so it just supports that in an even greater way. We think it’s a good organization to get our cooperative behind.”
Campaign kickoff events are being held throughout the week, including a silent auction tomorrow at Headquarters. The campaign runs Oct. 21-Nov. 1.
Basin Electric is matching employee donations 100 percent and set a fundraising goal – with match included – of $200,000.
