Pioneer Generation Station went commercial today. Some training was done at Headquarters Aug. 29 to get ready for Basin Electric’s newest natural gas-fueled power plant near Williston, ND, to go commercial.
Joe Fiedler, Basin Electric operations maintenance supervisor, is based at Culbertson Generation Station near Culbertson, MT. He traveled to Headquarters in Bismarck, ND, to show the distributed generation service dispatchers how the new 45-megawatt plant is a little different from the plants they have been operating.
All of the cooperative’s peaking units can be started up and shut down from the dispatch center at Headquarters. Read more: A day in the life of a distributed generation service dispatcher
