Chemistry teacher teaches what he learned on lignite tour

Scott Weigum

This is part of a series produced by Partners for Affordable Energy, through an in-kind contribution by Basin Electric.

Scott Weigum is a chemistry teacher at Bismarck (ND) High School. He has participated in the Lignite Energy Council’s Lignite Education Seminar and talks about the information he took away from his experiences and how that affects how he teaches his students.

“I really teach global warming from a neutral standpoint,” he says. “I try to paint a picture where I want them to make the decision, not what consensus says. I’m not a big fan of consensus because that’s not science. My job is to promote science and good science.”
