This spring Basin Electric donated to twenty-seven fire departments located near Basin Electric facilities throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Nebraska. The donations are done annually to thank emergency responders for their preparedness to assist if needed.

Basin Electric project coordinations representative, Curt Pearson, says Basin Electric understands the importance of these emergency service providers.  “We make this annual donation to show these brave men and women how much we appreciate them being ready and on standby for us in case of an emergency,” he says.

Emergency responders are familiar with Basin Electric facilities in case of an emergency. Pearson says meetings and tours are given to familiarize responders with the layouts and staff at the plants. “They learn things such as what gates to use and where the different hydrants and building entrances are located. It enables them to understand how to better assist in the event of an emergency.”

“These first responders are very important to us and Basin’s donations are just a small way to say thank you,” Pearson says.
