On behalf of Basin Electric, Auditor II Shawna Piatz accepts an appreciation plaque from Jordan Neufeld, CPA for the North Dakota Community Foundation, for the cooperative’s sponsorship of the Great Plains Young Professionals Summit.

After Basin Electric helped sponsor the Great Plains Young Professionals Summit held in late May, the cooperative received a special honor June 26.

A Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network representative presented Basin Electric with a plaque as a way of thanking the cooperative for making the event possible.

“We thank Basin for the wonderful support. We appreciate the commitment to the Young Professionals in the area, as well as the region,” says Jordan Neufeld, CPA for the North Dakota Community Foundation, and a Young Professionals member.

The event drew more than 120 registrations from individuals between the ages of 21 and 40, and featured such special speakers as U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple, North Dakota Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley, as well as other presenters. Pole vaulting gold medalist Stacy Dragila spoke at the Summit, as well as former college basketball coach Dale Brown and award-winning speaker Craig Valentine.

“It was an excellent opportunity to bring people in regionally, not just locally, and connect Young Professionals across the state,” Neufeld says.

Auditor II Shawna Piatz, an involved Young Professionals member within Basin Electric, appreciates the cooperative’s support of the Network.

“It’s a good way for young people to get out there and just know other Young Professionals in the community, and get their connections with others outside of Basin Electric as well, so that you can have a good relationship wherever you need it,” she says. “It gets Basin’s name out there, Basin’s people out there.”

The local Network recently named Basin Electric one of the top 10 Young Professional workplaces. See the complete list of workplaces here.
