Surround yourself with good, generous people, and don’t be afraid to ask.
Those strategies helped Milt Aus, a sales manager at Bismarck Motor Company, raise nearly $9,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in mere days. He was the highest individual fundraiser at the sixth annual St. Baldrick’s Brave the Shave event March 15 at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA in Bismarck.
After raising the money for childhood cancer research, Aus shaved his head at the Brave the Shave event. He was motivated by the memory of his sister, who died of leukemia at age 7.
“I just thought it’s probably the best way I can honor her, and raise money and awareness all at the same time,” he says. Watch video of Aus’ head-shaving experience.
Aus was one of more than 100 people shaving their heads at this year’s event. Kupper Chevrolet, part of Bismarck Motor Company, donated stocking hats for shavees to wear after braving the shave.
“It’s been a very humbling experience over the last week,” Aus says. “I’m just proud to be a part of it.”
