The sixth annual Brave the Shave event took place today at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA. The fundraising event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation drew hundreds of people to the Johnson gymnasium, filling it with green shirts, leis, boas, capes and even hair.
“We’re here today to celebrate the generosity of so many folks and their commitment to find a cure for a very serious cause that unites us all: children’s cancer,” said Mike Eggl, event co-emcee and Basin Electric senior vice president of Communications and Administration.
Eggl went under the clippers for his sixth year in a row, along with the CEO dream team: Andrew M. Serri, Basin Electric CEO and general manager; Craig Lambrecht, Sanford Health CEO; Gary Miller, St. Alexius CEO; and Nick Dobrzelecki, Daymarck CEO.
“As I have learned more about St. Baldrick’s, I’ve encountered stories of success and hope, but also, too many stories of loss,” Serri said. “That’s what brings us here today. No parent should have to face the loss of his child. No child should have to fight for his or her life with treatments that take such a toll on their little bodies.”
