Basin Electric CEO and General Manager Andrew M. Serri and several other Basin Electric senior officials gave the Valentine’s Day gift of a warm meal Thursday at Ruth Meiers Hospitality House in Bismarck, ND.

The mission of Ruth Meiers Hospitality House is to provide housing and supportive services to assist homeless and low income people in achieving self-sufficiency. Services include family and emergency shelters, clinician services, and help finding housing or employment.

According to Serri, it’s just another form of giving back to the community.

“If you know Basin, if you know Basin employees, they look for ways to give back. We feel so blessed to be in the community and to help out,” Serri says.

Northland Financial Senior Vice President Leo Gefroh volunteers as president of the Ruth Meiers Board of Directors. He said that Basin Electric’s spirit of volunteerism is definitely needed and appreciated.

“We have seen some increases in services both in the temporary and permanent housing that we can provide,” Gefroh says. “It’s amazing the support that we get from a number of businesses. And this event that’s put on by Basin today is … amazing to me, is the word I would use.”

Basin Electric also made a large donation toward the recent remodeling of the kitchen inside Ruth Meiers Hospitality House, as well as the updating of security within the organization’s shelters.
