The Missouri Slope Areawide United Way capped off a wonderfully successful 2012 fundraising campaign in suspenseful fashion.
A few last-second donations helped the campaign’s fundraising total surge over its $2 million goal at the local chapter’s annual meeting and luncheon Friday at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck, ND.
Basin Electric was a large contributor to that total — and at the luncheon, was honored as the top contributor to the 2012 campaign, Best in Show for Corporate and Employee Gifts, and the Spirit of Bismarck-Mandan Award. Nominations for the Spirit award were reviewed by an independent volunteer panel of judges.
Basin Electric raised more than $250,000 for the United Way during a campaign that ran from Oct. 15-Oct. 25, 2012. As part of that campaign, Basin Electric incentivized employee donations by providing a 150-percent match. For example, a $25 donation grew to $62.50 for employees’ favorite United Way agencies.
Basin Electric CEO and General Manager Andrew M. Serri called Basin Electric’s campaign a team effort – an effort that helped provide much-needed assistance throughout the growing community.
“The stark change that we’ve seen in Bismarck in the last year is phenomenal,” Serri says. “The rate of change we’re seeing, the need is just going to get bigger.”
He called local United Way chapter’s 2012 campaign a “home run,” but challenged everyone to help increase that fundraising total next year.
“We can all do better,” he says.
