A Basin Electric employee wants to give troops who are stationed overseas a small “piece of home” this Christmas season.

James Decker, Basin Electric hardware maintenance assistant in Information Services and Telecommunications, is asking fellow employees to drop off letters, Christmas goodies, or basically any non-perishable item that will provide military service members some comfort though the holidays. He labeled the effort “A Piece of Home for the Holidays.”

“The reason I started this project was to show our brave men and women how much they are truly appreciated,” Decker says. “They are putting their lives on the line for us. It only seems right when they are spending this holiday season away from home without their friends and loved ones that we try to bring a piece of home to them.”

Typed letters can be sent to, or letters and items can be dropped off at the cafeteria within Basin Electric’s Headquarters by the end of the workday Dec. 19. Blank Christmas cards are also located near the drop-off box.
