Appreciate carefully-crafted woodwork? How about some eggs from free-range chickens? Or gentlemen – a few neckties, perhaps? (The festive neck-piece allegedly worn by Mike Paul, Basin Electric Vice President of Construction and Engineering, during his 1978 job interview was of extra value.)
All of that and much, much more was up for bid at the silent auction Oct. 16-17 at Basin Electric Headquarters in Bismarck, ND. The auction was part of Basin Electric’s United Way fundraising campaign, which officially kicked off cooperative-wide on Oct. 15. All proceeds from the silent auction go to the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way.
Unofficial auction tallies: 230 donated items raised $4,579.50 in donations for the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way. The number of donated items was down from 276 items last year, but funds raised were up 14 percent from last year’s total of $3,940.50. According to auction organizer Sharon Cerkoney, Basin Electric’s United Way silent auction last raised more than $4,000 in 2004.
A special thank you goes to employees Connie Isaak and Cerkoney for coordinating such an exciting and successful fundraising event!
