We did it! Twelve riders representing Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives finished the inaugural three-day 172-mile “Pedal the Plains” bicycle ride Sunday with flying colors and, well, sore backsides.

Except for a daunting headwind on Saturday, the weather cooperated and our team of intrepid riders conquered the course with the help of many volunteers from the communities of Yuma, Wray, and Burlington. Folks from the eastern plains were out in force supporting the event and cheering on the riders. Law enforcement personnel from the state patrol and local agencies did an excellent job managing traffic and making sure the roads were as safe as possible for the nearly 1,000 riders.

Team Co-op clearly won the award for best team spirit, not to mention best bike jerseys (one of which we delivered to Governor Hickenlooper, who gave it to his staff so as not run afoul of any campaign finance laws!) Representatives…
