The Deer Creek Station crew surpassed their goal of raising $5,000 with a couple last minute donations.
The team held their shaving event at 9:30 a.m. Kristie Ching, Basin Electric administrative assistant III, is the team captain. Sherri Minor and Molly Yunginger from Razor’s Edge salon in Brookings donated their time to shear some locks. Watch the video.
As the St. Baldrick’s shaving was about to begin, Jeff Towler of BlueWater Energy announced he would be shaving. Bluewater Energy is the contractor in charge of commissioning and startup on the plant. Towler had said he would shave if someone came up with $1,000 cash. Lo and behold, Jan Matson of Boldt Construction had the money ready to go, courtesy of the workers’ donations from their monthly safety meeting. Watch the video.
Doug Rothe, Basin Electric mechanical engineering supervisor, mentioned later on that he would shave if someone came up with $500. Sure enough, Matson was back with cash from Boldt Construction’s safety meeting.
