More than 120 energetic folks signed up today for a two-hour dance party! The “Get Your Green On” Zumbathon rocked Bismarck-Mandan and raised more than $2,000!
The Strong Kids Campaign raises funds for the programs and resources that nurture the potential of kids, promote healthy living and support our community.
St. Baldrick’s is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Since 2000, St. Baldrick’s events have taken place worldwide and in 50 states, raising more than $120 million. More than 190,000 volunteers have shaved their heads while requesting donations of support. Since the event came to North Dakota in 2008, nearly 700 volunteers have shaved their heads in solidarity of children with cancer.
In the four events Bismarck-Mandan has hosted, more than $500,000 has been raised for childhood cancer research and fellowships. Joining Basin Electric and the Missouri Valley Family YMCA in sponsoring this year’s event is also Starion Financial, MDU Resources Group, NISC, Kadrmas Lee & Jackson and Great River Energy.
This year’s St. Baldrick’s event will take place Friday, March 16 at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA’s McDowell Gym at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at noon with a bake sale and silent auction.
