Watch the Dry Fork Station dedication LIVE

The public is invited to attend the dedication of the Dry Fork Station, Basin Electric’s new coal-based plant. The ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time, and lunch will be served. The plant is located seven miles north of Gillette, WY.

Speakers include: Wyoming Gov. Matthew Mead, U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis, Steve Hughes, chairman of the Campbell County Commission, Tom Murphy, mayor of Gillette, and Dave Freudenthal, former Wyoming governor.

Last night, the Touchstone Energy hot air balloon made a second flight. The same great crew of volunteers helped out, but the lucky fliers were Cliff Gjellstad, Basin Electric board president, and Barb Ireland, wife of board vice president Roy Ireland. Riding in a hot air balloon has been on Barb’s “bucket list,” and it was exciting to see her lift off. Watch the video.

  1. Very cool. What a beautiful day. Even watching it from my computer gave me goose bumps. Thinking of everyone today in Gillette. I’ll be watching from Basin Electric!
