Generating electricity in Montana

It’s the largest cooperative-owned power plant in Montana… and Basin Electric’s first generation station in the state.

In mid-August, a dedication ceremony was held for Culbertson Generation Station, a 95-megawatt capacity natural gas-fueled peaking station.

Watch the video below to hear from Sheridan Electric Cooperative General Manager Rick Knick, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Basin Electric CEO Ron Harper, and Basin Electric Director Dean McCabe.

McCabe had grown up just a few miles from where the plant now sits. McCabe Farms is still operating, and is run by McCabe’s brother and nephew, who were both at the dedication ceremony.
