Right about now (1:00 p.m. Mountain Time), a public dedication ceremony is being held for Basin Electric’s first energy generation facility in Montana, the Culbertson Generation Station.

The ceremony is being held at the plant site about five miles north on Montana Hwy 16 and five miles east of Culbertson on County Road 17.
Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer will be speaking, and representatives from Basin Electric and the area will also provide remarks. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
Culbertson Generation Station is a 95-megawatt capacity, natural-gas fueled peaking station, featuring General Electric’s LMS100® turbine. It’s the same kind of turbine in operation on both units at Basin Electric’s Groton Generation Station in South Dakota. The first unit at Groton was the first commercial application for the turbine, which uses a combination of frame and aero derivative technology.
Here’s a video produced during Culbertson Generation Station construction.
