Who is raising $$ for St. Baldrick’s … and where does it go?

Take a quick look at our teams page on St. Baldrick’s Web site. Here’s a link: Basin Electric’s 2010 teams page

It’s fun to see the team names: Millright Mafia, Totally Smooth Melons – TSM, and The Good, The Bald, and The Ugly are a few.

Basin Electric's Shears to You! team holds a bake sale on March 9.

Some of the teams have signed up for the past three years; some of the teams are new. They’re all raising money for an excellent cause — childhood cancer research.

Some members of our communications group headed out to Amplatz Children’s Hospital at the University of Minnesota to interview a couple doctors who’ve received money from the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for their research.

Dr. Heather Stefanski and Dr. Troy Lund are doing research specifically on bone marrow transplants: how to make the transplant “take” more quickly, and how to help the child’s immune system recover more quickly after a transplant.

Watch the video below to learn about their research. Also, find out how Dr. Stefanski remembers one of her patients, Amber DesRoches.
