It’s days away, and momentum continues to grow for Basin Electric’s 2009 St. Baldrick’s Day event. As of 8:30 a.m. CDT March 13, 139 volunteers have signed up to either shave their head or cut 10 inches of hair to help raise money for childhood cancer research and fellowships.
Plus, we’re less than $2,000 away from our $50,000 goal.
Though it’s only the second year Basin Electric has sponsored the event, it’s grown beyond expectations, especially within the cooperative’s membership and communities.
“Teams and participants stretch from Wyoming to Minnesota,” said Mary Klecker-Green, supervisor of public and member communications. “In addition to the Headquarters event, tandem events will take place on various days throughout the week.”
The official event will be held March 17 at 2 p.m. CT in the Headquarters boardrooms. Joel Heitkamp with KFGO’s The Mighty 790 will be broadcasting live from the event.
Anyone who cannot attend but would still like to see some heads shaved can watch it live beginning at 2 p.m. the day of the event. The link will be available on the home page of basinelectric.com. Basin Electric employees will be able to watch it from their desks via a link on the intranet the day of the event.
