The Medcenter One Great American Bike Race (GABR) raises money to help children with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities by providing equipment and services.
Basin Electric’s team, the Basin Power Pedalers, are back in the saddle to help raise money. Race day is April 28.
Marian Voeller, senior administrative assistant for Dakota Coal Company, has been participating in GABR for thirteen years. She is now captain of the Basin Electric team.
“On that day, the smiles on the kids’ faces are the best. They get to be superstars for a day. They get to forget about their disabilities, and they know this is being done for them, It’s a high energy, fun day, but in the end, it’s all about the kids,” Voeller says.
The team members are training for race day by taking spin classes. In the video, check out a class they took from Dave Schneider, Basin Electric telecommunications engineering supervisor and spin instructor at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA.
The Basin Power Pedalers are holding a Taco in a Bag lunch Wed., Apr. 25, in Basin Electric’s cafeteria, and proceeds from Jeans Day on Friday, Apr. 27, will go to GABR as well.
