As we reported in May (PrairieWinds ND 1 turbine damaged near Minot, ND), one of the turbine blades in the PrairieWinds ND 1 wind project failed in April.
Plans were to get the blade replaced by sometime in June, but with extremely wet weather, the roads and surrounding area were too soft to support the heavy cranes and trucks needed. Read about that here: Water prevents turbine repair in Minot Wind projects
This month, the blade has been replaced. Since the other two blades are being repaired, the tower is not yet back in operation.
Now that the broken blade is removed, it can be analyzed to determine what caused it to fail.
