On July 28, two cranes on the Deer Creek Station construction site lifted the 500,000 pound steam generator onto its pedestal.
Because the Deer Creek Station is combined-cycle, it has two turbines and two generators. The gas turbine (or combustion turbine) is fueled by natural gas. The steam turbine is driven by steam created from the heat of the gas turbine’s exhaust.
Matt Ehrman, Basin Electric mechanical field engineer on site, captured this video of the lift.
