May was a busy month for employees at the Dry Fork Station. Crews hit one milestone, after another, after another.
It began with the first turbine roll in the early part of the month. Then, after testing and several system checks, the plant was synced to the transmission grid for the first time. That was the first time electricity went outside the plant. Check out Milestone: Dry Fork Station syncs to the transmission grid.
And on May 18, coal, the primary fuel for the plant, was successfully burned in the furnace for the first time. Watch the video.
Crews are now testing all the different systems for maximum efficiencies. It’s all part of preparing Basin Electric’s newest plant for commercial operation.
