The Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives is holding their Service Excellence Conference in Des Moines, IA, over the next three days. Today, the last session of the day focused on social media and the different ways it can be used to educate on and promote the cooperative difference.
Having members understand the cooperative difference is especially important to the co-ops now, with electricity rates on the rise. During today’s session, Allen Urliss, director of communications at IAEC, answered questions on rates using the Flip camera Tracie Bettenhausen of Basin Electric brought along for demonstration. Watch the IAEC video below.
The group also learned about the way Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative used Facebook during a major snow and ice storm at the beginning of April this year. They saw a video of Jackie Miller, member services manager at Mor-Gran-Sou, describing how Mor-Gran-Sou’s Facebook page helped them get information to their members.
